Erskine’s magazines published a substantial amount of translated content: from other languages into Gaelic and from Gaelic into English. Many of the contributors, including Erskine himself, saw translation as an important means to strengthen links between Gaelic writing and other literary traditions and to activate different registers and vocabulary sources. The magazines published the works of translators such as Hugh Laing | Ùisdean Laing and Donald MacCallum | Dòmhnall MacCaluim.
