Kuno Meyer (20 December 1858, Hamburg – 11 October 1919, Leipzig) was a German scholar who specialised in Celtic philology and literature. He was a lecturer and then professor of German at the University of Liverpool for 27 years. During his tenure, he also accepted the post of MacCallum lecturer in Celtic at the University of Glasgow and lectured on various topics in 1903–1906. The fourth issue of Am Bàrd featured a reprint of a short supportive letter from Meyer, indicating he and Erskine were in touch.

Extracts from his collections of Old Irish literature, including Ancient Irish Poetry, were often featured in Erskine’s magazines. The first issue of Guth na Bliadhna (Winter 1904) featured the article ‘‘Gaelic Literature and Professor Kuno Meyer’ by ‘Alasdair Beag’. When Meyer died in October 1919, Erskine reflected on his demise in ‘Bàs Kuno Meyer’ in Guth na Bliadhna (Winter 1919).
