According to a note from An Deò-Gréine (Vol. III, Issue 3, 1907, p. 42-43), ‘Fraoch Geal’ (no confirmed dates) was the pennname of Murdo Smith (24 May 1877 – 1936) from Leurbost in Lewis, a minister in the United Free Church. Two poems of his poems, employing traditional meters and imagery, appeared in An Sgeulaiche, and a prose piece in Alba. However, neither poem from An Sgeulaiche is included in Bannaimh Nach Gann: A’ Bhàrdachd aig an t-Urramach Murchadh Mac a’ Ghobhainn (Clò Fuigheagan, 2014).
