Alexander MacGregor | Alasdair MacGriogair (26 May 1806, Dalfuil, Ballater – 19 October 1881, Inverness) was a minister in the Church of Scotland, teacher, and a prolific Gaelic writer and scholar. According to Sheila M. Kidd’s entry on MacGregor in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, he was ‘one of the most prolific writers in Scottish Gaelic in the nineteenth century, contributing under the pen-names Alasdair Ruadh, Sgiathanach, and S. to most contemporary periodicals which published Gaelic.’
